GROUND SPREAD

gROUND SPREAD HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE SOIL BY PEONY GROWERS to control botrytis FOR MANY YEARS WITH GREAT SUCCESS. gROUND SPREAD IS A BY PRODUCT OF OUR PROCESS DURING THE MANUFACTURE OF botry-zEN AND BOTRY-ZEN wp.

Ground Spread bags are priced at $5 each (up to 3 bags), $3 (4 bags to 10 bags)

and $2 each (11 bags and above), all Ex Works.

PEONIES

For the application of Ground Spread it is recommended that one large bag (a 20 kg type) is spread along a 15 metre row of Peony shoots. It is applied just when the shoots are emerging from the soil. This needs to then be followed up with a fine spray of water to dampen the material and hold it in place.
++If the ground temperature is above 15 degrees Celcius, the spore will germinate and spread.
++Don’t use too much water or the spore will be washed away from the target area.
++As the product is very dry don’t apply during windy conditions.

CHERRIES

Trials were carried out in 2018 and 2019 to block the overwintering stage of Botrytis cinerea infected cherries from end of harvest to pre flowering the next season.

2018

2019

Ground Spread should only be used after the orchard has succumbed to Botrytis pressure through to harvest, and should only be applied after berry drop.

It is recommended that one 20 kg bag of Ground Spread is used to surround the base of four trees, and that after application a fine spray of water is used to dampen the material and hold it in place.
++With this, the spore in the mix will germinate, if the ground temperature is above 15 degrees Celcius.
++Don’t use too much water or the material will be washed away from the target area.
++As the product is very dry don’t apply during windy conditions.
++For larger orchards a motorised spreader could be used to spread material down both sides of the trees.

CITRUS

In 2019 a trial was carried out on citrus trees using the byproduct (Ground Spread) to control the disease Brown Rot.
