BROWN ROT DISEASE CONTROL

Brown rot is a common disease problem with tree crops in the Prunus genus (almond and stone fruit). The fungus attacks blossoms, much like Botrytis in grapes, except that blossoms in almonds and stone fruit can become blighted and fruit does not set. Most common to affect peaches, nectarines, apricots and cherries.

BOTRY-Zen® active ingredient Ulocladium oudemansii, is registered to control Botrytis in grapes. Control is achieved by the aggressive competition of the active ingredient, colonizing senescing tissue at bloom and preventing infection by outcompeting the pathogen. The same mode of action occurs with brown rot, which is in the same family of diseases as Botrytis and Sclerotinia. Hence trials showed a positive result in significantly reducing incidence of brown rot in almonds and stone fruit.

Using BOTRY-Zen® to control for brown rot is beneficial as it is a natural product that leaves no residue and ensures a chemical free harvest.
